Larger than life portrait of President James A. Garfield. He stands with his proper right foot forward and wears a knee length coat. In his proper right hand he holds a stack of papers. His proper left hand is extended forward with his palm down.
The work was originally installed in the middle of Vine Street but was moved to the park in the early 1900s.
The sculptor's signature can be found on the proper left side of the bronze base.
