Lord John Somers

1911 / Karl T.F. Bitter / Cleveland

Lord john Somers (Lord Mansfield) 2.JPG

Male figure dressed in traditional robe of an English jurist. Long white curls from a traditional wig collect around his shoulders. His left hand holds a gavel across his chest and his right hand clutches a book.

Somers held a number of official positions in England's government, but under every title his characteristics remained the same: a brilliant orator, just, intelligent, knowledgeable, and patriotic. Somers crafted the framework behind the union of England and Scotland, and he was a driving force behind the Glorious Revolution.
