Steubenville, Ohio (Jefferson County) is the location of 25 unique murals commemorating the city, citizens, and historical significance. The majority of the murals are located downtown and two are located in Hollywood Plaza just 1.5 miles from downtown. This mural honors the Ladies Seminary. Founded in 1829, the female students came from both the Ohio and Mississippi valley region. Many of its female students when on to national fame in several areas, while others remained in the Ohio Valley. The seminary was located on Water Street in Steubenville and gained national attention.
