Butech Chopper Sculpture
1988 / John R. Buta / Salem
This sculpture was formally a 1988 Butech Dual Arbor Rotary Scrap Chopper (11th Produced). The purpose of this machine was to trim edges from uncoiled sheet metal, usually steel, so that there was no waste to the valuable metals. In 2012, the chopper was donated to the Salem Historical Society (Salem, Ohio) from the Butech Bliss manufacturing company (Salem, Ohio). Due to its size, the machine was placed outside the historical society near the space dedicated to industry and transportation.
