The figures of a man, woman, and infant made of curled wire, shown in flight. The figures represent escaped slaves who followed the Underground Railroad through Sandusky to Canada. The man's outstretched arm, face, and knee - the three parts of his body closest to Canada - are fully formed, representing how close he and his family are to freedom. The sculpture is surrounded by a circular garden and plaques sharing specific stories of Sandusky's involvement in the Underground Railroad.
