A stylized bronze statue commemorating the extinct Passenger Pigeon. The form is smooth and rounded, with the head craned towards the skies it once dominated. The Passenger Pigeon, native to North America, was one of the staple sources of food for the early American settlers. Unfortunately, they were hunted to extinction and the last known Passenger Pigeon, Martha, died in the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914.
The statue sits outside the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, an organization that seeks to connect people with the natural beauty around Columbus.
