She has a similar pose as the Dominic De Guzman statue, with her left hand down at her side and clutching her robe, while her right hand is held up at her chest, but instead of holding a book, she is reaching to touch a cross that hangs around her neck. Moore Description An account of the resource Edwin McMasters Stanton (December 19, 1814 – December 24, 1869) was an American lawyer and politician who served as Secretary of War under the Lincoln Administration during most of the American Civil War. This impressive bronze stands in front of the Jefferson County Courthouse in Steubenville, Ohio. The engraved plaque on the front of the statue reads: "Edwin McMasters Stanton. Born in this city December 19, 1814. U.S. Attorney General 1860 1861. Secretary of War 1862 1868. U.S. Supreme Court 1869. Died December 24, 1869. Erected 1911." The 18-foot bronze likeness of Stanton, unveiled in 1911, was sculpted by Alexander Doyle of Steubenville. Grant was dedicated at the Ohio Veterans Home of Georgetown on August 21, 2004 and was obtained through a bequest of John & Dorothy Kueck (John was an employee of the facility). The statue is surrounded by a walkway of memorial bricks dedicated to various veterans. Grant was born in Point Pleasant, OH and lived in Georgetown as a child. Title A name given to the resource Kettering Historical Marker Sign Description An account of the resource The Ohio Historical Marker sign reads: Charles Franklin Kettering A pioneer in automotive innovation, Charles Franklin Kettering (1877-1958) was born three miles north of Loudonville. He attended local schools and graduated from Ohio State University in 1904. He organized the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company (Delco) in 1909, which later became a part of General Motors (GM). "Boss Ket" served as vice-president of research for GM 1920-1947 and held over 140 patents (including four-wheel brakes, safety glass, and "ethyl" gasoline), achieving his greatest fame for an all-electric starting, lighting, and ignition system. The electric starter debuted on the 1912 Cadillac and was soon available on all cars, helping to popularize them with women. In 1945 he helped establish the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Institute in new York. Title A name given to the resource Shakespeare Description An account of the resource A life-size portrayal of William Shakespeare seated on a bench, crafted from bronze. Shakespeare is seated with one arm stretched across the back of the bench and the other holding a rolled-up document. The bench includes representations of the classic comedy and tragedy masks on either end and a crown hanging on one of its arms. It also features carving/relief decorative elements, and miniature pieces on the back and side, including several figures (possibly fairies) and musical instruments (including a lute). The artist's signature and copyright date are carved into the end of the bench, next to where Shakespeare is seated. The sculpture was purchased from the estate sale of a private collector in Clermont County, OH in 2020, with funds provided by the Clifton Community Fund. The Clifton Business Association accepted the work and responsibility for its maintenance, and it was installed in its present location.
