Internships at The Sculpture Center

The Sculpture Center is accepting applications now for interns for fall 2015 and spring 2016.
Click Here for a full description and how to apply.

The Sculpture Center accepts interns for an intense between-semesters month, a semester, and 2-2 months in the summer. Interns are usually college level or graduate school students seeking practical, highly varied, working experience in a small, fast paced arts organization or post-graduate people wishing to develop additional marketable skills. A background in the arts or art history is not required, but can be helpful. Interns must have excellent analytical writing skills or skills in art production, be highly motivated and able to work independently and accurately, and be comfortable working with the public. A good understanding of digital photography and a photo editing program is highly desirable.

Internships are geared to the skill sets and interests of each intern and may include registrarial work, writing for exhibitions, updating the website, corresponding with and working directly with artists to install their exhibitions, preparing databases of exhibition entries and serving on the Exhibition Committee, photographically documenting exhibitions and preparing slideshows for the website and PowerPoint presentations, educational outreach, marketing including preparing Evites and press releases, and development of our social networks. Interns are expected to assist at openings and other events and may occasionally be asked to manage the galleries on a Saturday afternoon. A commitment of between 8 and 15 hours a week, depending on the timeframe, is expected.

Interested people should initially call or email The Sculpture Center with an expression of interest, a resume, and a proposed timeframe. Final decisions are based on an interview, two letters of reference, and a writing sample, when applicable. There are openings at this time.

Volunteers
The Sculpture Center welcomes volunteers to help, particularly with marketing and managing our openings and other events. Please contact the Executive Director if you have the time to help us.

Work-study Students
The Sculpture Center has a long standing relationship with the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Department of Art History at Case Western Reserve University for the employment of work-study students. At this time, both positions are filled.
