Charles Tucker

December 6 – January 3, 2003

“I am fascinated with the understanding that all we know is guesswork based on fragmentary evidence. As in Plato’s cave, we sit and wonder at the shapes and shadows on the wall, and imagine that we know.”

The gallery will contain a site-specific installation using hanging fabric with hand written text taken from historic texts and a sound-piece of muffled voices quoting text of belief. The atmosphere attempted is a timeless and metaphysical space, designed to stimulate an internal dialog for the viewer on the nature of the spiritual and the eternal.

The Sculpture Center is dedicated to enhancing our community's appreciation of sculpture by fostering the careers of emerging sculptors and promoting the preservation of outdoor sculpture. It is located in University Circle at 1834 East 123rd Street.

Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Free Parking is available.)
