John Leyland John V. Leyland is a graduate of Miami University M.F.A.2001. John’s forms are rooted in a study of geometry and Neolithic artifacts. The ceramic sculptures are hand-built forms that resemble vessels yet lack any functionality. ”Although the concepts of vessel and containment are still present, in some form, my impulse to elaborate and articulate parts has been transformed to an impulse of simplification.” Their surface is quite special, each different, making specific choices of color and texture. The Sculpture Center is dedicated to enhancing our community's appreciation of sculpture by fostering the careers of emerging sculptors and promoting the preservation of outdoor sculpture. It is located in University Circle at 1834 East 123rd Street. Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Free Parking is available.) |
