parts and labor
January 25 - February 22, 2002

Experience the interactive environment, parts and labor where Kristin Bly-Rogers of newsense enterprises transforms The Sculpture Center into a simulated repair shop. Viewers are invited to collaborate by contributing items to the shop’s cache of service requests. Possibilities for repair items include broken glassware, minor electrical work, cleaning and resurfacing, and much much more. Individual consideration is available upon consultation. Kristin can be reached by e-mail at redundantredundant@ameritech.net.

Kristin Bly Rogers is a Cleveland area artist whose work has been seen locally at Spaces, Here Here Gallery, and newsense enterprise’s own exhibition space located in Lakewood, Ohio. He’s also exhibited recently in Amsterdam, with a performative work called dustcollector.

His artwork encourages viewers to collaborate, sometimes participating by filling out questioners, or in this show’s case bringing objects in for repair. He accomplishes this special relationship by creating hyper real environments with his own veneer of realism. He describes parts and labor as taking parts and taking labor to create a sculptural installation. Visit soon and don’t forget to bring something broken.

The Sculpture Center is dedicated to enhancing our community's appreciation of sculpture by fostering the careers of emerging sculptors and promotes the preservation of outdoor sculpture. It is located in University Circle at 1834 East 123rd Street.

Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Free Parking is available.)
