Greg Mueller: Silent Spaces

January 9 - February 6, 2004

About
The Sculpture Center announces an exhibition by Greg Mueller, titled Silent Spaces from Jan. 9 through Feb. 6, 2004. The free, public reception with the artist is Friday, Jan. 9, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Mr. Mueller creates large sculpture in steel, aluminum, metal roofing, cast iron, and bronze. His sculptures suggest qualities of sacred architectural forms or sanctuaries, and are designed to inspire contemplative interaction. The works are structured to allow the viewer to sit or move within them. The butoh dance performance will reflect the movement and interaction inspired by the forms.

Tammyan Metz Starr, dance artist, will perform a butoh dance to compliment Mr. Mueller’s installation, at 6:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 9, as part of the opening reception with the artist. Butoh dance is an interpretive performance art that originated in Post World-War II Japan.

Mr. Mueller is a sculpture instructor at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. He has an MFA from Montana State University School of Art in Bozeman, Montana. Ms. Starr is lecturer of dance at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.
