W2S

The Sculpture Center invites early career sculptors of all media and installation artists with an Ohio connection to apply for inclusion in the annual W2S series (Window to Sculpture Emerging Artist Series). Through this series, begun in 1991, The Sculpture Center fosters and promotes the careers of exceptional Ohio sculptors and installation artists during the first ten years of their profession. Six artists are chosen annually by our Exhibition Committee for one-person exhibitions in either the Main or Euclid Avenue Galleries. Each exhibition is accompanied by a full color brochure. Starting in 2010, artists may choose to collaborate with FiveOne, Cleveland’s premier new music ensemble, to integrate specially composed music with the exhibition. Listen at fiveonemusic.org.

You are considered an Ohio artist if you have a connection by birth, residency, or schooling, and you don’t need to be currently living in Ohio to be eligible.

Annual Juried Exhibition – After the Pedestal
Annually through an open call for artists, The Sculpture Center invites sculptors of all media and installation artists of the larger region of Ohio, its contiguous states, and Ontario, Canada, to submit work for the annual juried exhibition of smaller sculpture. This always critically well received exhibition is juried by an artist or curator of national and international reputation. Past curators have been Second Generation Ab Ex sculptor Richard Hunt (2005), designer and artist Viktor Schrekengost (2006), sculptor and urban activist Don Harvey (2007), painter and Chair of the Visual Arts Division, Columbia University, New York, Gregory Amenoff (2008), the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Curator of Contemporary Art Paola Morsiani (2009), Executive Director of Carnegie Mellon University’s Miller Gallery Astria Suparak (2010), and Judd Foundation (New York and Texas) Executive Director Barbara Hunt McClanahan. Images from past exhibitions can be found in the Exhibition section of our website. The next After the Pedestal has not yet been scheduled.
